Lurie Children’s Aims to Save Millions Through “Funding Our Future” Initiative

Funding Our Future is a program developed to strengthen and improve Lurie Children’s financial performance in a way that is sustainable and can be quickly implemented. The program relies on the expertise and frontline knowledge of our workforce to suggest and carry out plans that represent sustainable cost-saving ideas. The goal is to save $12 million per 100-day Workout, which is a four-month period of focused effort related to a specific topic.

The Funding Our Future program is based on our organization’s need to work through the financial challenges that remain post pandemic including, Medicaid reimbursement rates, supply chain inflation, and fluctuations in patient census. Strategic growth plus greater efficiencies are imperative for Lurie Children’s financial sustainability so we can continue to serve our patients and families today and in the future.
