Cathleen Shanahan Elected Coalition Healthcare Chair

Lurie Children’s Cathleen Shanahan, Senior Director of Preparedness and Response was elected to serve as the Coalition Healthcare Chair of the Chicago Healthcare System Coalition for Preparedness and Response (CHSCPR). During her two-year term, Cathy will lead the CHSCPR Executive Committee, who will advise the Chicago Department of Public Health Bureau of Emergency Preparedness and Response in matters related to healthcare system emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

American Pediatric Society (APS) Announces 2024 New Members

APS announced three new members for 2024 are Lurie Children’s Todd Florin, MD, MSCE, Emergency Medicine, Karna Murthy, MD, Neonatology, and Michelle Macy, MD, MS, Associate Medical Director. APS members are recognized child health leaders of extraordinary achievement and work together to shape the future of academic pediatrics.

Michelle Steltzer Receives 2023 Congenital Heart Defect Champion Award 

Michelle Steltzer, APRN-NP, Advanced Practice Provider, Single Ventricle Program Coordinator in the Division of Cardiology, has been recognized as a recipient of the 2023 Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Champion Award at the Children’s Heart Foundation’s annual Red Tie Ball, which honors Chicago leaders in pediatric heart care and raises money for CHD research.  

Lauren Sorce Named President of the Society of Critical Care Medicine 

Lauren R. Sorce, PhD, RN, CPNP-AC/PC, FCCM, FAAN, Senior Scientist in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Associate Director for Nursing Research in the Department of Nursing, was named president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, which promotes excellence in the practice of critical care. Congratulations on this monumental accomplishment!
