About
Tresa Zielinski is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)in the department of Infectious Disease and the first elected Allied Health Professional representative on the Medical Executive Committee serving from 2021-2023. She has her Master of Science in Nursing as a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner and a post-master certificate in primary care. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in nursing leadership with a focus on systems quality improvement. In her infectious disease position, she is one of the few nurse practitioners participating on the Pediatric Pandemic Network and the only PNP on the National Pediatric Readiness Project through the through the department of Health and Human Services Emergency Medical Service for Children Innovation and Improvement Center. Her unique background of working for a decade each in the emergency department, with transplant/immunocompromised patients as well in the intensive care unit gives me unique perspective on infectious diseases. She has cared for children across the spectrum from common illnesses to invasive illnesses in healthy and immunocompromised hosts.
She has presented extensively on a local, state and national levels on pediatric health care issues including common presentations to the emergency department, Covid and MISC, post-pandemic illnesses, febrile illnesses, pediatric kidney and cardiac disease as well as human trafficking. She has also served on more than a dozen medical missions to Guatemala and was the director of Nursing and Advanced Practice on the board of directors of the former not-for-profit, Latin American Medical Providers. She is a past president of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and NAPNAP Partners. In addition to this she has served as the Chair of the Alliance for Children in Trafficking for 2 years and is currently on the American Hospital Associations Human Trafficking Advisory Council. She also serves on the Emergency Nurse Association Advance Practice Council and still works periodically in the emergency department. She was just appointed to the Conference Planning Committee for NAPNAP to serve for the next 3 years 2023-2026.Clinical Interests
